Weekend Hikes and tired eyes.

Winter is bitter. It fills you up with a sense of numbness, things feel muffled and sleepy as if you're viewing life through a pair of dusty glasses. The winter frost kisses everywhere it can reach and we accept it each year, with numb toes and chilly finger tips. We hiked up frosty fields, the long grass grazing our knees and the brisk wind tickling our cheeks. The spring sun was beginning to show it's face, it danced over fields in the distance and lit up the green blades of grass in every field. We adventure like five year olds, all seriousness left behind at University, laughing and falling over gates, running up hills and sliding on whatever slush we can find. The wind is undeniably powerful at the top of the ridge, I lean back and feel like I'm flying, enveloped by the gusts of mother nature. The snow was thick as we trudged across the ridge of Mam Tor, the sun beamed through the clouds and made the green fields glisten with a golden light. It was in that moment where I stopped still and just gazed at what was in front of me. Fields upon fields of green grass and grazing sheep, snowy topped mountains bordering the landscape and the freshest air going into my body. Sometimes we have to be completely present in order for our surroundings to take their full effect. So every once in a while, just stop, take a deep breath, open your eyes fully and appreciate who or what is in front of you.

This weekend I visited Ben in Sheffield. After an early night on Friday we woke up nice and early with tired eyes, packed our rucksacks and headed to the Peak District to go hiking. Here are a few of the images we took...
