Painting drift wood

Sometimes it's frustrating living in the middle of nowhere because it means my friends have trouble getting out to where I live. On days like this, when the weathers nice and I'm alone, I often have to find different ways of entertaining myself. whether thats exploring, swimming in the river or making funky crafts. I chose the latter to delve into today as part of a present for Ben's birthday (sshhh). I'll post a picture of the finished thing when it's all done but in my head it's going to be some sort of funky wall hanging.

I saw a post on Bldg 25 where they did something similar so thought I'd give it a go.

I found two pieces of drift wood that'd been picked up at the beach which were roughly the same size. I then cut up thin strips of patterned fabric and tied them around each stick just to make it more interesting.

After this I got out some acrylic paints and started to decorate the sticks. You can literally paint anything on them, go crazy. I think they look pretty sick and I'm actually fighting the urge to keep them for myself.

I will show the finished product in an upcoming post.

peace out.
